Biography
Marcos Verduras
Originally from the cold seas of Northern Spain, Marcos´ whole life has revolved around the sea. Coming from a family with an ingrained tradition in diving, it was his father Eduardo, lieutenant and diver of the navy, who initiated him in diving when he was 17 years old, and immersed him into the fascination for the sea.
From when he was very young, Marcos began his career as a professional diver, and this lasted more than 20 years. During all these years he worked and directed teams in Spain, Portugal and several African countries. The diversity of environments in which he has worked is overwhelming, for example: purifiers, nuclear power plants, marshes, lakes, ports…. Not to forget the endless number of seas and oceans. Also in fields of work as varied as reflotes, constructions and explosives.
He shared practically all his professional life both under and on the water, with Israel Moreno Franco. Unfortunately his unforgettable companion died during the rescue maneuver of the Costa Concordia in February 2014. By then Marcos had already settled in Ibiza. I wonder how much time of these 4 years underwater they spend together! For sure Marcos is a master of safety at sea and he knows exactly where he can take you.
It was here in Ibiza in 2011 where Marcos continued his recreational diving in a more serious way.
In the last 4 years, being executive director of Aquadiving Center Ibiza, he has won prizes like those of 2012 and 2014, for having a larger number of ´trydives´ (sea baptisms) realized in all Spain.
He has been a skipper for more than 10 years, during which he has been a teacher in several nautical schools. Among some of his great passions are underwater photography, the discovery of historical marine remains and the biodiversity of the Ibiza bottoms.
Finalizing a biography that is so rich, makes you think what you leave behind, so I hope you come and dive with Aquadiving Center Ibiza to see for yourselves what I have left behind. And discover, as with Marcos, that you can enjoy a safe and unforgettable dive in the pristine waters of Ibiza.
